Estrogenics: Are They Making Us Fat, Sick, and Infertile?

Did you know fat cells can survive in your body for 10 years? And that fat cells can retain artificial chemicals that act like excessive estrogen in your body? Here, in clear and straight-forward terms, Anthony G. Jay, Ph.D., reveals in Estrogeneration: How Estrogenics Are Making You Fat, Sick, and Infertile, how you can definitively avoid estrogenic exposures. Estrogenics are things that bind or “stick” to estrogen receptors in your body. Are flax and soy “health” foods? Are vinyl crib mattresses giving off “estrogenic emissions?” What about sunscreens and soaps? Red 40 food coloring? Grains? These are just some of […]

Doctors To Screen Patients For Obesity?

I’ve always counseled my patients about the need to keep a healthy weight. It not only makes you look and feel better but it decreases your risk for serious diseases.   Many doctors, though, have shied away from telling their patients that they need to lose weight. Why? For one reason, patients tend to take comments about their weight very personally instead of seeing it as the health risk that it is.  Many doctors don’t want to insult their patients and/or make them feel bad about themselves in any way. For another reason, some doctors feel that nutrition and weight loss counseling is […]

Is Sugar Responsible For Obesity and Diabetes Epidemics?

Gary Taubes, journalist and author, argues that sugar could be a fundamental cause of the global obesity and diabetic epidemics, with detrimental effects on the human body. Bringing the matter to forefront, Taubes emphasises that “we must do more to discourage consumption while we improve our understanding of sugar’s role” which according to him goes beyond just empty calories. Taubes further writes that it has long been suspected by the doctors that sugar is a fundamental cause of obesity and type 2 diabetes. But until recently, the ideas of fat consumption and total energy balance have taken over the debate […]

‘Healthy Obesity’ Does Not Last, Says Study

People who are obese may appear healthy for a while but their condition declines over time, said a study that followed more than 2,500 people for 20 years. The research by scientists at University College London is the longest of its kind, and its findings support previous research that has shown people who are overweight face a higher risk of heart attack, stroke and some kinds of cancer than thin people as the years go on. For the purposes of the research, “healthy obesity” was defined as not having high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes or other metabolic risk factors. A total […]

Are You Suffering from Fructose Poisoning?

The processed food industry wants you to believe that fructose is a natural, healthy sugar derived from natural plant sources. The science shows something vastly different. In reality, fructose is a harmful toxin that is a key factor in the development of metabolic syndrome in America today. Excessive fructose consumption is responsible for a: 39% increase in abdominal obesity in men. 9% increase in insulin resistance. 11% increased risk of hypertension in men. It also increases your risk of abnormal lipid profiles and inflammation. In fact, the highest consumers of sugar-sweetened beverages have a 20% increased risk of cardiovascular disease! The sweetener industry spends tens of millions of […]

Anti-appetite Pill Could Trounce Obesity

Scientists have successfully tracked the molecule that conveys the fullness signal to the brain, saying it could be used to make a revolutionary anti-appetite pill. The molecule, known as acetate, is released into the bowels upon digestion of fiber, which abounds in plants and vegetables, Press TV reported. The molecule then travels to the hypothalamus region of the brain, which controls hunger. Such pill would also dispose of cravings. Unfortunately, processed food-rife in the modern-day diet – does not produce acetate when digested. Prof Jimmy Bell, of the Medical Research Council, Cambridge, who collaborated in the research, said, ”It is exciting we […]

Dr. Hyman’s Blood Sugar Solution

From Dr. Oz to Bill Clinton, people everywhere are listening to what Dr. Mark Hyman’s new book, The Blood Sugar Solution, has to say regarding the rise of obesity and diabetes. The latest research shows that insulin imbalance is the major cause of weight issues and diabetes, as well as heart disease, cancer, dementia and most other diseases. Diabesity, the continuum of health problems ranging from mild insulin resistance and being overweight to obesity and diabetes, is the single biggest health epidemic of our time. It is almost entirely caused by environmental and lifestyle factors, which means that it is […]
