The Gourmand International 2023 Awards
With over 100,000 screened books and publications from some 230 countries and regions, the Gourmand Awards give an overview of food and drink publications from around the world. Each category presents its national winners at the Best in the World Ceremony. The scope of this selection reflects the passion of all humanity for cooking, as well as the immense food challenges of the 21st century. This year the awards were held in Umea, Sweden as part of the Umea Food symposium, where chefs from around the world attended and demonstrated.
Grace O attended the Gourmand International 2023 Awards ceremony in Umea, Sweden, with members of her FoodTrients team, her husband, Rupert Ouano, and other family members, all of whom joined in celebrating Grace O receiving the 2023 Gourmand award for the Best in the World in the Health and Nutrition category for her cookbook, Anti-Aging Dishes from Around the World. Because this cookbook won a national award for Health and Nutrition, it qualified for entry to compete in the global competition for the Best in the World award. Grace O is very proud to receive a second international award from Gourmand for her latest cookbook published by Skyhorse Publishing and distributed by Simon & Schuster. Her previous cookbook, The Age Beautifully Cookbook, was awarded the 2017 Gourmand World Cookbook Awards’ top honor: ‘Best in the World’ — for Innovation, at Gourmand’s annual awards event in Yantai, China.
Umea Highlights
The team enjoyed viewing the display of cookbook entries from over 230 countries in the Umea library, walking the beautiful city and meeting other cookbook authors. They also sampled local fare in several highly esteemed restaurants – Hunger & Thirst as well as Garaget. Cloudberries, salmon, turbot, lingonberries, rhubarb, elderflower, lamb, reindeer, sea-buckthorn, fennel, sausage, potatoes and other local ingredients made for exquisite meals. Beverage and food tastings rounded out the three-day event. Posters of each winning entry were produced to encourage international trade rights and distribution.
