Men Who Eat Soy May Have Lower Lung Cancer Risk

Men who do not smoke and eat a lot of soy may have a lower risk of lung cancer, according to a new study. Soy contains is flavones, which act similarly to the hormone estrogens, and may have anticancer qualities in hormonerelated cancers of the breast and prostate, BBC health reported. Cells in the lung have properties that suggest they may also respond to is flavones. A new study has revealed that nuts and peanuts help in reducing risk of death, especially from heart disease. While research has previously linked nut consumption with lower mortality, those studies focused mainly on higher-income, white populations. Nestlé Takes Artificial Colors Out of Candy

At least one Big Business is listening to its consumers. Nestlé announced this month that they will no longer be using artificial colors in its candy products and the chocolate makers hope that other food manufacturers will soon follow suit. Artificial colors were highlighted in EWG’s recent Dirty Dozen Guide to Food Additives because of lingering questions about their safety and effects on human health. EWG research shows that artificial colors are heavily used in processed foods that have little nutritional value. Vitamin “A” may protect children against the mosquitoborne malaria parasite, a study said. “Our research found that children who received vitamin “A” supplementation were less likely to become infected with malaria,” said study leader MariaGraciela HollmDelgado, postdoctoral fellow at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Khaleej times reported.
